The Thornfather is the enigmatic and feared leader of The Nailbound, a figure wrapped in both myth and martyrdom. His name is spoken in hushed tones, whether in reverence by his followers or in dread by those who oppose him. The Thornfather is said to embody the essence of The Nailbound’s faith: unrelenting suffering, divine rebellion, and the belief that salvation can only be achieved through pain.
The Thornfather is believed to be neither fully mortal nor god, but something caught in between—a being forged in rebellion. Whispers claim that he ascended after driving an iron nail into the heart of a dying god, stealing a fragment of divine essence. This act left him scarred, both body and soul, and bound him to eternal agony, which he endures as a source of his power.
The Thornfather’s body is riddled with iron nails, each one a mark of his defiance against the gods. According to legend, these nails bind him to life through unending torment, allowing him to survive wounds that would kill any other. Some say that each nail represents a god he has slain, though no one knows the truth of this.
To The Nailbound, the Thornfather is a living martyr, the first to carry the divine burden and the one who guides them on their path of suffering and rebellion. They believe his pain is a gift, his scars a sign of his purity, and his mission a sacred duty. They whisper that when the Thornfather finally falls, it will be the final nail driven into the heart of the heavens.
