You inscribe a statement on a piece of paper and will arcane magic to flow through it. Whatever statement is written on the piece of paper is considered to be true as long as it is believable, if the statement were already true, the DC for any ability check would increase by your spell casting ability.
Examples:
“I am locked” would make a door or other entryway locked.
“I am meant to be here” would allow one to pass by areas that might otherwise be restricted to them.
“You won’t hit me” would give the wielder of the paper +1 AC
“I will hit you” will give a +1 to your attack rolls.
A creature that suspects the statement to be untrue can make an Investigation check against your DC to nullify the magics effect on them, if a creature suspects magic is involved they can make an Arcana check against your DC to give themselves advantage on said Investigation check.
